Aubin Z. Ames was a member of the original
Montclair Foundation board and one of the founders of the Van
Vleck House & Gardens. She serves on the board of the Schumann
Fund for New Jersey and is a past President of The MKA Board of
Trustees. She has served on boards of the Montclair Public
Library, and the Junior League of Montclair/Newark.
Lissa Barrett, Vice Chairman is an active
community volunteer who has served as President of the Junior
League of Montclair/Newark, as Treasurer for the United Way of
North Essex, and on the Executive Committee of the Montclair Art
Museum’s Volunteer Council. Currently, she is Treasurer of the
Van Vleck House and Gardens Capital Campaign Committee.
Janice Benton served on the
Board of Management of VVH&G as chair of PR/Marketing and
chair of Strategic Marketing. Janice has served on the boards
of the Junior League of Montclair/Newark and the Junior League
of London. She also served as a board
member of The Garden Club of Montclair, The Salvation Army,
and Presby Memorial Iris Gardens.
Robert C. Butler served as the CFO for a number
of major corporations including Celgene Corporation,
International Paper, and NBC. From 1997 to 2001 he chaired the
Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council. He currently
serves on the boards of the Montclair Art Museum, COPE Inc.,
Studio One Networks, and NVR Corp.
Ellen Culbreth, Treasurer
became an active community volunteer after a career at J.P.
Morgan. She has
served as chair of the strategic planning committee of the
Mental Health Association of Essex County and served on the
board of the Parents Association of MKA.
She has been a Writers’ Room tutor in the Montclair
public schools and currently tutors in the SCEEP program at
Union Congregational Church, where she also serves on the
worship committee.
Christopher
A. Conroy began his professional career at Arthur
Young and Company in New York, a predecessor firm to Ernst &
Young. For most of his work life he directed the finance
departments of two large international law firms, Sullivan and
Cromwell, and Simpson Thacher. He currently sits on the board
of COPE.
Fred Langbein, Chairman is the Chief Operating Officer of
Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy, LLP, an international law
firm. He is currently a trustee at the Montclair Art Museum, and
has served on the vestry of St. James Church.
Shelley Phillips Originally from
Sudbury, Canada, Shelley has been in
Montclair
for 21 years with her husand and three children.
Her commitment to the community began in 1990 when she
joined the Junior League of Montclair-Newark. She has been
active with numberous local organizations including Montclair
Kimberly Academy, the Montclair Art Museum, and the Presybetrian
Church of Upper Montclair. In September of 2010 she became
President of the Board for HomeCorp.
Marisabel R. Raymond was President of the Board
of Management of Van Vleck House & Gardens and Vice Chair of the
Montclair Foundation from 2001 to 2007. She currently chairs the
VVH&G Capital Campaign.
She is a past-President of the Junior League of
Montclair-Newark and on the Board of Senior Care.
She has also served on
Montclair Kimberley Academy's
Board of Trusteess and is a past-President of their Parents
Association.
Glenn Reiter is a partner in Simpson Thacher &
Bartlett LLP, an international law firm headquartered in New
York City. He is a corporate attorney who represents leading
U.S. and non-U.S corporations and banks. He is a member of the
Board of Trustees of the Kessler Foundation as well as of the
Yale Law School Fund.
Michelle Ruggiero is the Director of Marketing/PR for
Jude Connally Clothing and an active volunteer in the Montclair
community. She is a former member of the Van Vleck House &
Gardens Board of Management and also served as the
Communications VP for the Junior League of Montclair-Newark.
Marianne Smith a Montclair resident for over 40 years
Marianne has served on the Mountainside Health Foundation Board,
as well as the the boards of the Montclair Kimberley Academy.
Montclair Art Museum, and the Junior League of Montclair-Newark.
She is the mother of three, and grandmother to ten.
Judith C. Turner, is an honorary member of the
Van Vleck House & Gardens Board of Management and an active
community volunteer. She has served on the boards of the Garden
Club of Montclair, the Presby Memorial Iris Gardens, the Mental
Health Resource Center, and the Montclair Chapter of the
American Red Cross.
JoAnn Weisel is a community volunteer and
immediate past board member of the Van
Vleck House & Gardens. In addition to the Montclair Foundation,
she serves on the board of the Drama
League. She has served on the boards of the Parents Association
of MKA and the Junior League of Montclair-Newark and on the
session of the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church.
John H. Wessling, III is the President and CEO
of Haven Savings Bank. He currently serves as the Chairman of
the New Jersey League of Community Bankers. He also serves on
the boards of the Hoboken University Medical Center Foundation
and the Hoboken North Hudson YMCA.
Honorary Trustees
Brenda Bingham is a former Vice Chair of the
Van Vleck House & Gardens Board of Management. A Master
Gardener, she serves on the boards of the Montclair Garden Club
and the Garden Club of New Jersey, and is a National Garden Club
Master Judge. She is a past President of the Montclair Art
Museum.
George R. Harris was the first Chairman of The
Montclair Foundation Board of Trustees. He is a past President
of The Montclair Kimberley Academy Board of Trustees and a past
President and former Trustee of the Schumann Fund for New
Jersey. He currently serves as Chairman of the Jackson Hole
Institute, Chair of the Coalition for Educational Freedom as
well as board member of Excellent Education for Everyone(E3).
John R. Helm has served on The Montclair
Foundation Board of Trustees for over a decade and was a
founding member of the Van Vleck House & Gardens Board of
Management. He has volunteered with Senior Care and Activities
Center, COPE Counseling Center and the Montclair Red Cross.
Jacqueline McMullen is one of the original
members of the Van Vleck House & Gardens Board of Management. A
long-time resident of Montclair, she serves on the Advisory
Board of the Salvation Army and is a former trustee of the
Montclair Art Museum, where she also serves as Chair of the
Women’s Committee.
Anne E. Westerman is one of Howard Van Vleck’s
twelve grandchildren and provides a liaison between the Van
Vleck family and The Montclair Foundation and Van Vleck House &
Gardens. A resident of Southbury, Connecticut, she serves on the
board of Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust in nearby Woodbury.
